PASTORAL SUPPORT

A message from the Pastoral Team: Mr Lavin, Mrs Bhella, Mrs Shalvey and Mrs Payne.

To All our Parents, Carers and Children.

We hope that you are all keeping safe and well during this worrying time with the current coronavirus situation we are still facing. Unfortunately for some, we have been faced with the reality of the virus either in our families, friendships or our wider community. As St Bernadette’s family, be assured that we continue to keep you all in our prayers.

During the unusual period of enforced national lockdown, many children would have missed their school friends, teachers and the daily routine that school offers. As St Bernadette’s opened its doors in September, we had some tears and tantrums, love and laughter. For some children they were concerned that they were going to be behind with their work, their social skills would have taken a dip and their confidence knocked. Others were delighted (including parents!) to see their friends and teachers and appreciated that the ‘long holiday’ was over!!

As part of the Pastoral team we work hard with our children to overcome any barriers to their learning. We were delighted to reassure them and support them either individually or in small groups to recognise their emotions and help them understand what has happened over the past few months. We have worked hard with Parents to address their child’s emotional needs, as we know children who are not emotionally settled may struggle to learn. For some children further intervention may be necessary and we can signpost them to relevant external agencies. If you feel your child may benefit from extra support, please contact one of the Pastoral team.

As we continue in these uncertain times, we will continue to encourage the children to maintain class bubbles, promote hand washing, clean surfaces regularly and monitor and act promptly to any symptoms of Coronavirus.

Stay safe.

A PRAYER FOR PRECIOUS CHILDREN AROUND THE WORLD.

Dear Jesus,

Thank you so much for all the precious children in this world, we know they mean so much to you. We pray you will help us do all we can to protect and give them the start in life they deserve. Lord we bring to you all our families and ask for help at this special time of need as the COVID infection continues to affect our world.

We pray to St Bernadette and our Mother Mary to help and care for all of us.
